The workshop is primarily targeted to data center administrators, architects and IT managers.
In this workshop, we’ll introduce certain key concepts behind modern storage solutions, and explain how EMC have implemented these in their VNX storage arrays. We’ll discuss and show automatic, policy-based tiering and re-tiering of data according to its “hotness”, and explore its impact on the theory and practice of storage performance planning.
You’ll see how the FAST virtual pools used in EMC VNX will allow you to “decouple” the performance and capacity of your storage, enabling you to increase one without sacrificing the other or paying for what you don’t need — in other words, how you can purchase expensive flash disks and cut your storage budget at the same time.
Finally, we’ll show how EMC’s FAST cache will help you overcome sudden increases of your storage traffic.
The discussions are accompanied by live demonstrations on EMC VNX 5300.
