This two-session workshop is primarily targeted to data center administrators, architects and IT managers.
In the first session, we’ll introduce version 5 of the vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM) that VMware released to general availability on September 14, 2011. We’ll discuss the ways to minimize downtime caused by planned as well as unplanned disruptions in your virtual environments. You’ll learn about different approaches to ensuring data center availability and how VMware vCenter SRM fits into the picture, and see how to test your  disaster recovery scenarios and how to fail back to the primary site in minutes.
The second part of the workshop focuses on EMC RecoverPoint. You’ll see how to turn back the time — in other words, how to restore your information system to any earlier state. We’ll discuss two main use cases for RecoverPoint: local and remote continuous data protection. We’ll also talk about the difference between traditional array-based replication and EMC RecoverPoint.
At the end of the workshop, we’ll briefly discuss the ways and benefits of putting these two technologies together.
