On January 12, ByteLife delivered a new iMac to Astangu Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center. The computer was purchased for the voluntary donations of ByteLife staff.
According to ByteLife’s managing director, Taavi Must, the opportunities in the e-world are unlimited. “The only borders and limits are our own will, ability, and knowledge. The IT-students at Astangu have the will to develop themselves and the e-world. And when there’s the will, the money should not be an issue,” said Must and added that ByteLife will continue to work with Astangu in order to improve the student’s opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge.
iMac enables Astangu software and database management students to get acquainted with Mac OS and Apple software. The new computer will be primarily used in computer graphics and web design classes. Until recently, Astangu’s students only had access to computers running MS Windows and Linux operating systems. As Apple computers are becoming increasingly popular, the use of iMac in the classroom allows Astangu students to become more competitive on the labor market.
Mari Rull, director of Astangu Vocational Training and Rehabilitation Center, expressed her appreciation of the initiative of ByteLife employees: “We are sincerely thankful to everyone who found it possible to support this purchase. To us, the value of this computer is not only practical but also highly symbolic – it reconfirms that entrepreneurs recognize the employment potential in people with special needs, and that they are willing to contribute to development thereof. The co-operation between Astangu and ByteLife will go on: as a next step, ByteLife has offered our students an opportunity to participate in VMware courses free of charge.”
